July 4th Weekend...

RED...
WHITE...
BOOM!!

The Daly Family and the Powers Family in Coal Creek Canyon... we had a great hike and hang time with Cathy, Ed and the kids... the kids did great - found a skeleton of something ressembling a fox and the kids kept the bones as a reminder of their strong and diligent efforts at hiking and rock climbing... we all had a fun time...

Leelabean, Baba and Mitchell
Mitchell, Nicole and Connor braving it on the rocks...

Cathy and Jen back together after hmmm... 22 years... Class of '86... hmmm...
The apples of our eyes... don't they look so sweet?!?!
Having fun hanging out on the rocks... the views were spectacular!

On Sunday we joined Audrey, Annett and Brad for some paddeling on Gross Res. - such a treat for our first adventure out... they've only been open for non-motorized boats for 3 summers, we thought it was about time and Leela and Audrey had a lot of fun! Such fun little buddies! Leela was whipped by the time we returned to shore...
Leela's first nail job... done by a professional - Heidi! We love our ice cream and we are fortunate enough to have 2 new yummy ones in the neighborhood - Red Trolley and Little Man...
Little Man ice cream ROCKS!! It's so creamy and yummy...
Leela and her friend Shira ... can you tell they like chocolate?
We probably had about 7 to 8 cones between us in a 24 hour period... couldn't get enough... especially Baba!!!

Random shots... fun, beauty, laughter...

Leela loves many things in life, and bubbles are close to the top...

Nicole and Leela in the Springs...
Cathy finally made it to CO... only had to live in Germany, Washington, Texas, South Korea, Italy and Pennyslvania before landing here... and I probably left out a few places... well, turning 40 wasn't as traumatic as I thought it was going to be... enjoyed hanging with family and friends (more pics to come)...
Nothing like picnicing in the buff... seems to be a fun thing to do these days. Thanks to Annett and Brad, we always have a place to hang and eat while in the canyon...thanks!!! The girls always have so much fun together... friends since we adopted Leela at 8.5 months and Audrey was 6.5 months... boy time just keeps passing by... quickly... I keep telling Leela she has to stop growing and getting so big ... can you tell they missed their nap?

WOW! How time flys!!!

Well a lot has happened in the past 3 weeks including a trip to Crested Butte, celebrating my 40th birthday with my mom coming to visit from Ohio, one of my best friends moved to Colorado Springs, relaxed over the long holiday 4th of July weekend which coincided with staying up at Jennie Lane (in between tenants), watching fireworks in Nederland and canoeing for the first time in our backyard at Gross Resevoir (which opened 3 summers ago to non-motorized boats). Everyday life with Leela is full of adventure and fun and she is more than willing to take on anything and everything that comes her way especially eating ice cream at our two new ice cream shops in the neighborhood - they are both yummy!!! Our garden is producing and we grilled our first zucchini last night... just wish we had planted more... I didn't know watching food grow from the ground could be so much fun... probably should have guessed after watching an incredible documentary called The Real Dirt on Farmer John - see it soon if you haven't already!! Now to the fun part - posting new pics!!!
Saw this bear on our way to CB heading over Kenosha Pass... just when we thought we were done with wildlife after our Alaska trip...

This amazing cloud was in view for quite a while during our drive... of course we weren't the only ones noticing it... many folks were out of their cars taking pics ... it kept getting more intense the longer we drove and as the sun was setting... One of many blooming flowers in CB...

Loved the peace flag flying high and Leela's new friend Allison from Salt Lake City... they had so much fun at Mickey and Andy's 10 year wedding anniversary party... wish I had taken more photos of the event... mountain meadow in CB, lots of 'sqeeters, yummy lamb roast stew and plenty of libations, waffle ball (with many competitive folks) and M&A's fun games... including Q&As about their relationship and nature, and a fun-filled competitive scavenger hunt for various mountainous items - the evening was so enjoyable hanging with M&A's friends and family... it was a treat to be included in such an amazing reaffirmation of vows...
